L’Associazione Friends of the Church of the Holy Ghost
è stata costituita il 19 Ottobre 2011 con l’aiuto del Console Onorario di Gran Bretagna a Genova, Sig.ra Denise Dardani.
L’Associazione ha come missione la ricerca di fondi per il restauro dell’edificio.
In ordine di tempo, abbiamo:
Installato l’impianto di riscaldamento
Rifatto la pavimentazione della navata
Restaurato e valorizzato parte della pavimentazione originale
Predisposto il nuovo impianto elettrico e di amplificazione
Puntellato e ponteggiato l’arco tra abside e navata
In ordine di urgenza, occorre reperire i fondi per

Il rifacimento integrale del tetto – danneggiato durante la guerra
L’installazione dell’impianto elettrico e di amplificazione
Il restauro del rosone frontale e delle finestre sui lati della navata

FRIENDS The Friends of the Church of the Holy Ghost is a formal opportunity to contribute through regular subscription or donation in saving the building and, therefore, preserving the historic and cultural significance of the Church in Genova. Your help will be gratefully acknowledged.
BUILDING . The Church building was badly damaged during WWII and restored as well as limited funding allowed. Now, time has taken its toll and an immediate intervention is needed to keep the building standing. Neither the dedicated efforts of the small, devoted congregation of the Church nor the scant contribution from the Church of England allows sufficient funding to save the building. We appeal to you to help us.
HISTORY Commissioned by the Church of England, The Church of the Holy Ghost of Genova was designed by the architect G. E. Street and consecrated by the Bishop of Gibraltar in 1872. Since then the church has continuously been a place of worship for English speaking residents and visitors and is a testimony to the long history of the British presence and the commercial and cultural connections between Genova and the United Kingdom.
TODAY Today the Church remains the last English-speaking place of worship in Liguria. The services are conducted in the tradition of the Church of England but the congregation maintains Ecumenical fellowship with all Christian denominations and strives to offer a spiritual home to people from all countries and cultures who wish to worship in English. The Church is one of the founders of the Evangelical Hospital and continues to give it on-going support.
