The Church of the Holy Ghost, together with the American International Women’s Club of Genoa and the U.S. Consular Agency in Genoa, warmly invites the public to a memorial service with Holy Communion honoring the men of the 454th Bombardment Group, U.S. Army Air Forces, who gave their lives over Genoa on 4 June 1944.
This solemn service forms part of the commemorations marking the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America. Gathering in prayer and remembrance, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the American airmen whose lives were lost during the Second World War, and we remember the enduring bonds of friendship between Italy and the United States.
During the service, a Book of Remembrance containing the names and photographs of the fallen airmen will be formally dedicated and placed in the church as a permanent memorial. The book will serve as a lasting tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and as a place of reflection for future generations.
The service will be officiated by the Revd Robert Morley and will include prayers, readings, and Holy Communion in the Anglican tradition. All are warmly welcome to attend.
